Subaru Announces Recall Involving Door Latches

March 26, 2010

Subaru of America, Inc. in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of model year 2010 Subaru Tribeca. The popular SUV has a defect that could cause the door to unlatch.

Door latch cables located inside the vehicle's front doors were improperly positioned and installed during manufacturing. The defect could cause the latch to catch the window and the door could unlatch and open when an occupant rolled the window up or down. If the door was to open unexpectedly passengers could be ejected from the vehicle or become distracted and cause a severe collision. The defective door latch could also trap occupants inside the vehicle.

Subaru will notify owners and dealers of the defect. Drivers can bring their defective Subaru to the dealer to have the door latch repositioned thus remedying the defect.
